MacBook Air

Imagine a nice cool day, only a few clouds in the sky so you decide to pop-round to your local Starbucks to enjoy a nice cup of toasting coffee whilst checking your email. You sit down outside of the 'cafe' and pull out your MacBook Air... oh what's this? A light gust of wind? Oh no, your MacBook Air just blew away? SUCK ON THAT MR.HIP

What do I seriously think of the MacBook Air? It's a good idea, but better executed by other laptops such as the eeePC (drools). Perhaps the business man who wants to show off will buy one of these, which is acceptable, they won't be playing games or editing videos on it. Which is why I don;t understand why the MacBook Air has the same hardware stats as my MacBook? What are you going to do, play games on the worlds thinnest commercial computer? With one whole USB and no optical drive? Genius. The one last issue I had with it, is that it isn't very much smaller than a MacBook, it still requires a hell of bulk to take anywhere: Mouse, charger, external drive and now an optical drive too. Honestly save yourself the thousand dollars and get a proper laptop.

PS: Lol Microsoft

blogger

I've been pressing the next blog button for about 15 minutes now and I haven't managed to find a blog that isn't South American or at least an actual blog.

while 1 == 1:

So i've been learning the Python coding language recently, I was planning on doing VB but recommendations leant towards Python. It's only been two days or so and i'm only through one tutorial but i'm enjoying it so far. When they say that programming involves problem solving they don't kid around! There's at least three ways to do the most menial coding, check out 99 bottles for an excellent reference for what i'm talking about.

The first program that I managed to make is a Mad-libs game, for those of you who haven't had the awesome sensation of replacing Beatles lyrics with the word hot-dog, then I highly suggest you track one down. I went through a really small phase of learning Visual Basic in Visual studio lst year, the major difference i've noticed between VB/S is the ability to have the foundations of any program pre-scripted, for example the IE core is in-built into VS 05+ which allows you to scrap together a semi-descent (well not really with the IE core) web browser, which is kinda cool to brag about, but it really doesn't give you any status.

When I figure out how to create .exe files in Python i'll try to upload the Mad-libs game.

Sometime this year I plan on scraping together enough money to build a new PC, preferably a gaming PC and if I can afford the electricity bill, leave my current PC as a server. But again the issue of employment arises, do i sacrifice self-dignity to dress up as spiderman or should I work in a 5mx5m 'new age' burger joint? Hard choice methinks.

Excuse me whilst I enjoy some Tacos, good day.

Music

Friday: Beta band - The three EP's

A compilation of the Beta bands original music, it entails folk-rock, progressive-rock and is overall relaxed yet emotional, after all a line like "Needles in my eyes" isn't exactly blase.

I really like this album, although a few of the songs didn't appeal to me, the big players here for me where:
1. Dry the rain (featured in High fidelity)
3. B+A
4. Dogs got a bone
6. The house song
12. Needles in my eyes
These songs have easily taken a place in my favourite music, although the unlisted songs sound a lot more like clones of each-other due to their musics style.

The lyrics hit the spot and the instruments well complement it. The 50% of good songso n this album outweigh the average quite nicely.
Overall rating: 4/5

Saturday:
Soul coughing - El Oso

Soul coughing has teamed up with DnB artist Roni Size to create a percussion focused album.

Since Drum and Bass is a favourite genre to me, this album was extremely appealing. The drum lines in this album are great, although one of the key differences between this album and their later albums is that Soul coughing have changed their style to fit it in with Roni size a fair bit.
Since all the songs appeal to me i'll list the less favourable ones (fight my children):
1. Rolling (DnB)
2. Misinformed
3. Circles
4. Blame (DnB)
Ah screw it I like 'em all.

This album definitely won't appeal to you if you limit yourself to the original Soul coughing album, although if you like fast paced rock this could appeal to you.
Overall rating: 4/5

Sunday:
Soul coughing - Irresistible bliss

Very similar to Ruby vroom except a lot less Rock-Jazz and a lot more Rock.

If you've heard either of the other albums you can expect something very similar, except with less DnB/Jazz orientated music and a lot more rock orientated. The feature of this album is the use of lyrics which seperates what would be incredibly dull without words.
My choice picks from this album:
2. Soft serve
7. Paint
8. Disseminated
9. Collapse
12. How many cans?
The rest never really caught my attention.

Overall rating: 3/5

For those of you who live in Melbourne, holy crap he has a face!

Sleepless

I must've been sick last night because I nearly fell asleep while I was getting a burger down the road. I was thinking to myself about what the hell to write on my blog,so I thought: "What makes someone read about someones life?". The fascination with prying into someone else's life? Interest in their views, opinions and what they have to say about the world (I think I managed to repeat myself 3 times just then) or even because they just have nothing better to do? I've seen people talk about it before and it really doesn't get to anywhere but statistics and personal opinion. As long as your giving me a reason to write this I don't really care.

More importantly is the meaning of life, consider what a business man strives for, what a beatnick strives for, what a rich man strives for and what a working man strives for. We're all looking for something to do, you know when you hear people 'speculating' over the meaning of our existence, or pondering beyond the stars for that one night? Then they never again consider anything intellectual again? You know that 80% of the world? Yeh, they tend to annoy me a fair bit. I put to you that there is in fact no meaning to life, no magical number or question that will answer the mother of all answers. Take this into consideration: What would you do if you had nothing to do? I'll answer it for you, you'd do something. Humanity is about the perfection of ourselves, which I hope to dear god is impossible because we'd have nothing to fucking do if we could sit around all day on our arses. A good example of this is those people who have stupidly large amounts of money and take years of work, unless they're anti-social most of them get bored and together go back to work or take up a full time hobby.

The cybermen from Dr. Who are a perfect example of this, they've essentially perfected their bodies so they have no use for medicine, they don't need food so they don't have any use for agriculture. techonolgy isn't needed to entertain or progress them. The only industry left for any possible use is construction. But even then they don't need it housing, so what do they busy themselves with? War. There was some excellent point that I was getting to, but it's slipped my mind from all the ranting. So here's a better less thought out one. Actually it was really bad so i'm not going to follow it up. Point being: the government is rogue, corporations are taking over and what's left to do? Screw them over and live out your life-long dream. If you don't have one yet get a job and you'll figure it out soon enough. If your to young to get a job then screw you and you can stop reading my blog.

Now that i've thrown away a portion of the potential readers, that i'd probably hate anyway since most kids are a bunch of wankers, let's talk about yahoo's downfall. And I quote CNET: "Shareholders unhappy with the rejection of Microsofts big [for yahoo]". This spells two things:
1. That investors are a bunch of money hungry cock-suckers
2. Yahoo is going to go through a hard phase
You know I had this 13 year old girl come over to me and request to 'Roll' (For those unfamiliar with slang, Roll is Rob) me, this is why I hate kids, they think they can do anything, don't get me wrong though i'm sure the parents are part of that 80% of people who sit on their arse buying things for a living. Anyway.
Since the majority of shareholders are in the company for money, it's more than likely that they'll drive it in a horrible direction now that Microsoft has opted out. Not that I think Microsoft has ever gone in a good direction, it's just shareholders rarely care more than the price of their stocks.

Either way I hate Yahoo, the Chinese privacy incident wasn't going to win me back either.

Speaking of China, wow we're all fucked. They sent over 200 or so Chinese 'students' to 'observe' the passing of the Olympic flame through the Australian city of Canberra, on top of the TWO MILLION dollars spent on security to protect the flame. What kind of a fucking country needs to spend that kind of money to protect the Olympic flame? A symbol of peace and goddam integrity! We don;t exactly seem to be uniting about human rights issues and I have serious doubts about corruption issues in the Olympic committee because of this.

Come to think of it, it's a somewhat depressing world out there, now I can see why most people don't pay attention to it. Let us quarrel about the prices of mind inhibiting drugs. Brilliant!

And on a final note, what the hell happened to music taste? R'n'B? At least hip-hop communicates something important, R'n'B consists of 'SUCK MY BALLS BIATCH'.

--END RANT--

Today I slept in, man i've been waiting to do that, every day I tell myself i'll stay home on the weekend and just chill for once. But that's never going to happen, I know too many people outside of school which means I spend my spare time keeping up to date with them. I never thought i'd say this but I know to many people.

Also, I just got Leopard, hell it's good. As an upgrade from 10.4 it's insane, in comparison to the Vista upgrade it's like God stabbing me in the ear, which believe it not would be a good thing. For once an upgrade that doesn;t slow down the system, that adds useful function and that improves the GUI. In fact they succeeded in everything that Vista failed at, which is everything. I tried running Assasins Creed on my Vista box today, it runs it 1/3 as well as it does on my XP box (and that's while I had Window blinds on too).

I honestly am unable to comprehend how they managed to pay these people to make Vista. Vaugely quoting the Microsoft sound bossman. I want the user to turn on the computer, go make a cup of soup and relax while the computer starts up. I DO NOT WANT THE COMPUTER TO START UP FOR 10 MINUTES. Fedora 8 has managed to do everything Vista does with more functionality and purpose. Vista did do a few cool things, but these functions were LITERALLY ripped right outta Leopard (and i'm not being a dickhead about it) the search function in the new windows explorer is exactly the same as the OSX one, as is the loading bar and about a dozen other functions. Don;t get me wrong, I love microsoft for putting them in there, I HATE them for screwing it up. because of this badly coded OS having these functions in there does nothing but slow it down by nearly 200%. Unless your using an eight core processor with DDR3 RAM I think they'll make a noticeable difference on your machine.

It scares me because Microsoft will stop selling XP this year. Vista barely runs any of my software (which might I add all runs on XP), there's no wonder businesses are waiting till the last moment to move to the new operating system.

Ok, so I really didn't do anything productive today. I guess that's what i'm trying to say.

Sunday

Pancakes or breakfast.
